NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) - Training
NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Indiana hosts its next Mental Health & Criminal Justice Training #101 on Thursday, August 27, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Larue Carter Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis. The training will cover the topics of Categories of Mental Illness, Biological Basis of Mental Illness, Active Listening & Tools for Crisis Situations and In Our Own Voice presentations. This educational day is geared toward those who work in the criminal justice field such as law enforcement, correctional officers, probation officers, public defenders, prosecuting attorneys, judges, mental health advocates and community leaders. Rhonda L. Bayless is the Executive Director/Founder of the Center of Wellness for Urban Women (CWUW) in Indianapolis and an HIV/AIDS advocate. Through addressing the intersection of race, class, and gender and other social determinants of health, Ms. Bayless works to empower women and their families to live healthier lives.
